DESCRIPTION:Note: Rehearsal is at a later time than usual this week\, and for several other weeks. It runs 4:30-6:30. \n\nWant to join our band of merry-makers? We welcome all ages and skill levels! \nMMMB ordinarily practices every Sunday afternoon at Artworks at the Carver School\, 522 Patterson Street. The color guard and musicians usually rehearse in separate second floor classrooms\, with a joint period of announcements in the middle: \n–3:45-4:00 pm\, musicians arrive; warm-up \n–4:00-6:00\, color guard and musicians rehearse \n–break at 5-ish for announcements \nSome weeks\, when the color guard and musicians need to practice together\, the timing may be different. Some weeks\, the practice location may be different. Due to holidays and scheduling conflicts\, there will not be any practice some weeks. All schedule changes will be reflected on Gig-o-Matic and shared via MMMB’s Google listserv email. \nAre kids and other guests welcome at practice?  \nKids who are serious about practicing are very welcome\, at the discretion of the Minister of the Grooves and the Ministers of the Moves. A parent/guardian should stay for practice\, as no one else in MMMB can take responsibility for watching them. Some teens who have demonstrated commitment to practice diligently may not need parents/guardians to stay\, but please know that they are not supervised at practice or at events. We have been very fortunate to have some awesome teen monkeys!  \nGuests are welcome to observe practice quietly\, and parents/guardians need to keep an eye on their own kids. There are not any extra adults to watch them\, and band members need to be able to concentrate on practice. Kids must keep themselves occupied and quiet. Even though we are a fun bunch\, we take practice seriously!

DESCRIPTION:MMMB performs “The Last Circus on Earth” in the stage showcase that begins at 4:30pm and in the 6:30pm Halloween parade on Main Street. Lexington’s largest\, free Halloween party will kick off with Halloween-inspired art and performances and will culminate with the Halloween Parade and Thriller reenactment. New to the parade this year is the Monster Mash-up Flash Mob. Food and beverage vendors will be onsite serving up good eats and treats. \nThis event\, which has been named a top 10 Halloween destination by USA Today\, is brought to you by Lexington Parks & Recreation\, Mecca Live Studio and WRFL. \n\n\n\n\nDetails\n\nSunday\, Oct. 27\, 2019\n4 – 8 p.m. \nFree \nDowntown Lexington\nEvents will take place at several downtown locations  \nSchedule \n\nTween/Teen Crafternoon: Halloween make-up (2 – 3 p.m.)\nLexington Public Library\, Central Branch – Atrium\nPrepare for the downtown Lexington Thriller and Halloween Parade with spooky style! We will provide Halloween make-up and tricks for a scary style only a ghoul could love. For tweens and teens. While supplies last. \n \n\n\nWicked Wonders Art Market (4 – 8 p.m.) \nRobert F. Stephens Courthouse Plaza \nA spooky-themed art market featuring vendors from across the region.\n \nHalloween Variety Show (4:30 – 6 p.m.)\nRobert F. Stephens Courthouse Plaza \nCurated by Mecca Live Studio\, this stage show features a DJ spinning spooky tunes and Halloween inspired performances by Lexington area arts groups such as Mecca\, SCAPA\, the March Madness Marching Band and many more.\n \nHalloween and Thriller Parade (starts at 6:30 p.m.)\nMain Street from Quality and Mill streets\nFollowing the variety show is the Halloween Parade featuring floats\, costumed characters and even more performance groups. The festivities culminate with the annual Thriller reenactment where several hundred zombies will dance\, dawdle and drag themselves down Main Street to the classic Michael Jackson tune. New to the parade this year is the Monster Mash-up Flash Mob which is open to all skill levels. Participants in the Monster Mash-up are invited to dress up in their favorite ghoulish costume. Pedestrians can watch all along the parade route. Rain date for the parade and Thriller is Monday\, Oct. 28\, 2019\, at the same time.
