SUMMARY:Rehearsal
DESCRIPTION:Want to join our band of merry-makers? We welcome all ages and skill levels! \nMMMB ordinarily practices every Sunday afternoon at Artworks at the Carver School\, 522 Patterson Street. New band members should email us at info@m-m-m-b.org prior to joining a rehearsal\, so we can make sure to have sheet music and props available. \nDue to continuing COVID-19 concerns\, the musicians rehearse outdoors when weather permits. For these sessions\, each musician should bring a chair and music stand\, if needed. Bathrooms are available inside the building. \nMMMB has previously required COVID vaccination and mask-wearing for performers who join indoor rehearsals. Our COVID guidelines are subject to change depending on local medical data. If masks are required or preferred\, brass and woodwind musicians could wear split-masks\, and bell covers are advised for most brass instruments. Please email info@m-m-m-b.org if you have questions about the most up-to-date COVID guidelines. \nWhen indoors\, the color guard and musicians usually rehearse in separate second floor classrooms\, with a joint period of announcements in the middle: \n–3:45-4:00 pm\, musicians arrive; warm-up \n–4:00-6:00\, color guard and musicians rehearse \n–break at 5-ish for announcements \nSome weeks\, when the color guard and musicians need to practice together\, the timing may be different. Some weeks\, the practice location may be different. Due to holidays and scheduling conflicts\, there will not be any practice some weeks. All schedule changes will be reflected on the private BAND app. \nAre kids and other guests welcome at practice?  \nKids who are serious about practicing are very welcome\, at the discretion of the Minister of the Grooves and the Ministers of the Moves. A parent/guardian should stay for practice\, as no one else in MMMB can take responsibility for watching them. Some teens who have demonstrated commitment to practice diligently may not need parents/guardians to stay\, but please know that they are not supervised at practice or at events. We have been very fortunate to have some awesome teen performers!  \nGuests are welcome to observe practice quietly\, and parents/guardians need to keep an eye on their own kids. There are not any extra adults to watch them\, and band members need to be able to concentrate on practice. Kids must keep themselves occupied and quiet. Even though we are a fun bunch\, we take practice seriously!

SUMMARY:DiverCity Lexington
DESCRIPTION:The 2022 DiverCity runs from through 7:00pm. March Madness Marching Band will kick off the day’s entertainment at 11:45am! \nLater that afternoon\, look for the information booth we’re sharing with the dancers of Mecca Live Studio and Gallery. \nfrom the Facebook event page: \nWe are extremely excited to announce that on April 30\, 2022 the DiverCity Festival will return to downtown\, Lexington! The DiverCity Festival aims to educate\, embrace\, and celebrate the multitude of cultures that enrich the city of Lexington. This event is family-friendly and consists of live entertainment\, food\, drinks\, and opportunities to interact with our community.\n \nThe 2019 DiverCity Festival featured more than 70 booths\, 45 cultural performances\, and over 15 food vendors. Due to COVID-19\, the festival was unable to return for 2020 and 2021.\nThis celebration originated as a Leadership Lexington project backed by the Lexington Chamber of Commerce. The event continues to be organized and hosted by a Board of Volunteers who originated from the Leadership Lexington program – a group of individuals motivated to make a positive impact our community.\nFor more information about the festival\, including vendor\, sponsor\, and performance application information\, visit: www.divercitylexington.com
